After an unplanned cesarean with my first child, I wanted to do everything possible to have a natural VBAC with my second. At 12 weeks pregnant I contacted Holly to see if a doula would be right for me. After our first conversation, I knew she was meant to be a part of my birthing team! Holly has an amazing ability to be both professional yet personal. I cannot describe how wonderful it was to have her support throughout my pregnancy and birth. She was always available and willing to answer all of my questions. She was full of information and resources. During labor, Holly seemed to know what I needed to help me stay focused and confident to get through each phase. My husband wasn't too sure about using a doula in the beginning, but said that he was relieved she was there to help him support me. I believe having Holly as my doula was a big factor in my ability to have a successful and natural VBAC. If I am blessed with another pregnancy, she will be one of the first people I call!
We were unsure what to expect from pregnancy and labor, so we were interested in the guidance of a doula. Holly provided the support we needed to help settle our nerves through multiple prenatal meetings. Her professional training was evident as Holly was always prepared and focused. She provided us information and resources which assisted us in the development of a birth plan that clearly explained our desires and needs to the medical personnel. Labor was a wonderful experience, though difficult, and Holly helped us get through the pain and exhaustion suggesting different laboring techniques which added calm and reassurance, putting us at ease. As we transitioned to the hospital, she was available as we talked through the different procedures and decisions we had to make. After Ben was born, she remained close to assist in establishing breastfeeding at our request. Holly was a tremendous resource for us and we plan on using her services for our next pregnancy.
